MY WHY

“We have not chosen the time, but the time has chosen us.”  John Lewis

My Why is for US

Our country at this time seems to be full of divisiveness, hateful rhetoric, and fear.  There is a growing pessimism and distrust of government.  I have watched as our constitutional and civil rights are slowly being ignored or attacked.  As it is said, silence is complicity.  I cannot ignore what often seems to be government overreach and its impact.

We must believe in the good of all people and for all people.  We must stand up for the marginalized and for those who are silenced by fear and hate.   I am willing to be their voice.   We need to feel good again, to believe that we live in a state and a country that welcomes us – whoever we are, whoever we love, whatever we look like.

I have always been passionate about education, civil rights, and community service.    Faith requires action, and I strongly believe the time to act is now.
